The Davis Lab explores how cells decode and send messages via intracellular calcium signalling. They use genetically encoded reporter, sensor, integrator and knockout models (many of which were built for neuroscience applications) combined with multi-scale imaging, to observe individual cells functioning and interacting in their native environment. Whilst much of their research focusses on epithelial biology and women’s health, their network biology approach, combined with their extensive experience with calcium imaging, create many interesting intersections with the field of neuroscience.
