How non-coding RNA regulate gene expression

Jørgen Kjems is professor in molecular biology and nanoscience and center leader of Center for Cellular Signal Patterns (CellPat), a Danish National Research Centre based at iNANO. He has a long-standing interest in how non-coding RNA regulate gene expression and how misregulation can lead human disease, in particular in the brain. His lab focuses not only at molecular understanding of the mechanisms in cells but also on how to deliver interfering molecules across biological barriers to modulate disease targets. Also, his lab is engaged in stem cells research with the aim to regenerate tissue in directed fashion. The underlying concept to reach this goal is to exploit nanoscale generation of signal patterns to communicate with cells.
