- Inkscape - an open source vector drawing program for making general purpose schematic illustrations. It is also good at combining figure elements from different sources into one figure. Similar to Illustrator, but free. Tutorial on youtube here (it introduces you to the basic tools of inkscape, while you draw a donut)
- GraphPad Prism - a scientific 2D graphing and statistics software. A versatile statistics tool purpose built for scientists - not statisticians. There is a free 30 days trial version available to new users, which you can register for here. Lab members affiliated the Health Faculty can also order their own license through HE IT's webshop
- STRING - a database of known and predicted protein-protein interactions. The interactions include direct (physical) and indirect (functional) associations; they stem from computational prediction, from knowledge transfer between organisms, and from interactions aggregated from other (primary) databases
- Cytoscape - an open source software platform for visualizing complex networks and integrating these with any type of attribute data
- IrfanView - graphic viewer
