Welcome to Macarena Gomez de Salazar, new postdoc in Magnus Kjærgaard’s group
Macarena Gomez de Salazar is employed as postdoctoral fellow for 2 years in Magnus Kjærgaard’s group, starting on May 1st, 2020. Macarena will be working on using protein engineering to probe molecular mechanisms of memory. Memory and learning requires synapses to change strength in response to neuronal communication, a phenomenon known as synaptic plasticity. Synaptic plasticity requires that stimulated synapses recruit a host of new proteins. This project aims to understand the mechanisms by which synaptic stimulation leads to protein recruitment through molecular design principles. The position is funded by a grant from The Lundbeck Foundation.
