Inspiring the Next Generation of Neuroscientists

How do we inspire young researchers to pursue a future in neuroscience? At DANDRITE, one way is by opening our doors to students who want to understand what neuroscience looks like in practice.

This year’s DANDRITE Student Encounters brought together a group of highly engaged students into our research environment. Representing a mix of bachelor’s, master’s, and early‑stage PhD interests, they visited nine different labs and met over 20 researchers who shared their work, methods, and daily routines. Through lab tours, a poster session, and informal conversations over pizza, students gained a firsthand impression of the people and ideas that drive neuroscience forward.

As part of our commitment to talent development, we see it as our responsibility to inform, inspire, and guide students early in their academic journey. By showing them the many directions neuroscience can take, we help them navigate their options and broaden their sense of possibility.

These encounters benefit both sides. Students gain insight into authentic research environments, and our groups connect with motivated young scientists who may one day join our projects and contribute to the field.

We extend our thanks to all students and researchers who helped make this year’s event a meaningful and energizing afternoon.
