DANDRITE has updated its Association Programme, including appointing 11 new affiliates

DANDRITE has appointed 11 new affiliated researchers, all of whom will be part of a new and updated Association Programme. Eight groups are returning members, while the others are new to the role. The renewed Association Programme will remain open for applications from other interested researchers.

Based on advice from the Scientific Advisory Board, DANDRITE has now renewed its Association Membership Programme with initiatives aimed at fostering greater interaction between the affiliated groups and the new DANDRITE group leaders.

With the renewal of the programme, all current affiliated researchers have been asked to submit a renewed expression of interest and approval to continue their affiliation.

Of the 11 groups, 8 are renewing their affiliation with DANDRITE. These groups represent various departments and research areas, and while they maintain strong collaborations with outgoing DANDRITE research groups, the introduction of a new cohort of group leaders brings fresh opportunities for innovative collaborations and cross-disciplinary partnerships.

"It is encouraging that so many research groups wish to continue being part of our Association Programme. This confirms that the programme has merit and that the seeds we have sown are evolving into
sustainable partnerships," says Poul Henning Jensen, Director of DANDRITE.

DANDRITE Group Leaders to become DANDRITE affiliated

Among the 11 new affiliates are two former DANDRITE group leaders, Sadegh Nabavi and Mark Denham, both of whom stepped down as group leaders at DANDRITE in 2024.

"We are delighted to keep Sadegh and Mark, along with their research groups, as part of the community as they enter the next stage of their careers. Both lead significant and impactful research programmes that will be highly beneficial to our new, young group leaders," says Director Poul Henning.

The newly appointed affiliates also include a senior investigator joining the program for the first time. Daan van Aalten, a professor at MBG, recently relocated from Dundee to Aarhus to be closer to a neurobiology-rich environment.

"We are very pleased to welcome Daan van Aalten to our community. He is developing a strong program on the role of O-glycosylation in neurodevelopment, and I am confident his affiliation will further strengthen the existing interactions between his group and the DANDRITE researchers," Poul Henning states.

Applications from new members are always welcomed

The Associate Membership at DANDRITE is a strategic tool for building and strengthening a broad neuroscience community within and around DANDRITE at AU and AUH. A strong community that includes researchers across the university complements DANDRITE's research areas, fostering mutual benefit and collaboration between senior and junior researchers across faculties.

Affiliated researchers are appointed for three years, during which time they are expected to contribute to DANDRITE’s mission as a talent development program within neuroscience and to support DANDRITE group leaders by engaging in and initiating activities.

DANDRITE is always accepting applications from other researchers working within the field of neuroscience who believe they would benefit from and contribute to the DANDRITE community.

Update 1 October 2024
Associate Professor Sâmia Joca joined the Association Programme for the first time. Sâmia is from the Department of Biomedicine and her group studies the mechanisms associated with vulnerability to stress-related psychiatric disorders (primarily depression and anxiety) and the response to treatment.
