New PhD student at DANDRITE

Caroline Neumann started as PhD student in Poul Nissen's group per 1. November 2015. Caroline is studying the substrate specificity of MhsT, a bacterial homologue of the human GABA transporter GAT1 and non-polar amino acid transporters SLC6A18 and SLC6A19, by structure determination of various protein-substrate complexes and their validation by functional studies of mutant forms of MhsT. Later she will focus on structural investigations of the eukaryotic Na+-K+-2Cl- co-transporter NKCC1 and GAT1.
