Honorary doctorate 2019: Professor Dame Carol Robinson

Professor Dame Carol Robinson from the University of Oxford is awarded with Aarhus University’s honorary doctorate at the Faculty of Science of Technology.

Carol Robinson is Professor of Chemistry and renowned for initiating the use of mass spectrometry techniques to solve problems in chemical biology. Carol focuses on using mass spectrometry as an analytical tool for her ground-breaking research on the three-dimensional structure of proteins and large molecular compounds. In addition, Carol has conducted studies on ribosomes, molecular chaperones and membrane proteins and her pioneering methods have also been applied in drug discovery.

Carol Robinson and Professor Poul Nissen (Aarhus University) have engaged a collaboration on the identification of bound lipids and cofactors of P4-ATPase lipid flippases; enzymes that maintain the asymmetric distribution of lipids in the cell membrane of all eukaryotic cells.

The conferral of honorary doctorates will take place on September 13th 2019 at Aarhus University. Carol Robinson will give a talk on the occasion at 10-11 a.m. at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) Building 1590, Gustav Wieds Vej 14, 8000 Aarhus C.
