Health’s Student Research Prize was established to highlight the breadth of student research. On Thursday 2 February, four students received the prize and the associated diploma at a meeting of the judging panel, where they also each gave a short presentation of their project.

This year’s prize-winners are:

  • Adam Flensborg Safikhany (medicine), nominated by Professor Per Kallestrup of the Department of Public Health, received the prize for his project on upper arm growth curves in school children.

  • Elisabeth Krogsgaard Petersen (medicine), nominated by Clinical Professor Maiken Stilling of the Department of Clinical Medicine, received the award for her project on measurement of the chemotherapeutic agent carboplatin in the treatment Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC).

  • Camilla Westergaard Rasmussen (medicine), nominated by Professor Christoffer Laustsen of the Department of Clinical Medicine, received the prize for her project on MR scanning techniques in the identification of renal scar tissue.

  • Muhammed Alparslan Gøkhan (dentistry), nominated by Professor Lene Baad-Hansen of the Department of Dentistry and Oral Health, received the prize for his project on the role of dairy proteins in reducing capsaicin-induced burning oral pain.

After reviewing 21 nominations, a unanimous judging panel selected the four students as this year’s winners.

The nominated projects were judged on, amongst other things, the originality of the approach to the research topic, the students’ ability to express themselves at a high academic level, and their clear communication of the project’s core messages.
