Marco Capogna and Peter Somogyi collaborate in new project funded by ERC Advanced Grant

Marco Capogna will collaborate with Peter Somogyi (Brain Prize winner 2011) in a project funded by an ERC Advanced Grant awarded from 1 December 2016 for 5 years.

The grant will support research activities at both the Department of Pharmacology of Oxford University (ca. 1.8 M euros), and at the Department of Biomedicine of Aarhus University (ca. 0.7 M euros). Functional, anatomical and pharmacological mechanisms of GABAergic inhibitory circuits in the human cerebral cortex will be investigated. Combined electrophysiology/imaging, neuropharmacology and high resolution molecular receptor localization will be used. Understanding human cortical circuits may not only advance fundamental knowledge but also lead to novel therapeutic strategies.
