Where do DANDRITE Alumni go?
How two former researchers at DANDRITE turned their neuroscience training into impact in both academia and industry.

At DANDRITE, we take pride in fostering scientific excellence and supporting career development — wherever that path may lead.
Internal statistics show that approximately 59% of postdoc alumni continue in research, while 41% move into various industry sectors—biotech and pharma being the most prominent. For PhD alumni, the figures are 62% and 38%, respectively.
Here you can meet two of our recent alumni, Lucie Kuncova and Dongik Park, who both exemplify the rich variety of trajectories that begin in our labs.
Dongik Park followed an academic path, moving from his postdoctoral position in Anders Nykjær’s lab to a tenured Assistant Professorship at Ghent University Global Campus in Korea. With a background spanning South Korea, Germany, and Denmark, Dongik now leads research that combines neuroscience with systems biology, microbiome, and omics technologies. His years at DANDRITE not only shaped his scientific vision but also developed his teaching and leadership skills — foundations he now builds on as a faculty member and mentor.
Lucie Kuncova, on the other hand, transitioned into the life sciences industry after completing her PhD in the same lab. Today, she works as a Life Science Consultant at Astora Consulting in Copenhagen. In her role, Lucie helps pharmaceutical and biotech companies tackle regulatory, digital, and operational challenges. She credits her time at DANDRITE — particularly the collaborative culture and opportunities beyond the bench — with preparing her for a dynamic and impactful career outside academia.
While their paths differ, both Lucie and Dongik reflect the core values of DANDRITE: curiosity-driven research, international outlook, and a supportive environment that equips researchers with versatile skills. Whether in industry or academia, our alumni continue to contribute meaningfully to science and society.
