Welcome to visiting postdoc Julian Schreiber in Poul Nissen's group
We welcome Julian Alexander Schreiber as visiting postdoc in Poul Nissen's research group from the University of Münster, Germany. Julian will be working with a project, which focuses on the structural characterization of interactions between homo- and heterodimeric K2P channels TREK2 and TRESK with K2P channel activators. Both ion channels play an important role in the maintenance of neuronal resting potential as well as neuronal excitability. Dysfunction of TREK2 and / or TRESK is associated with neurological diseases like neuropathic pain, epilepsy or migraine. Consequently, both ion channels are interesting targets for drug therapy and specific ion channel activators might offer a new therapeutic strategy for disease treatment
