New Erasmus student in Nissen lab
Welcome to Ludwig Lehmann, who is a new Erasmus student in Poul Nissen's lab from 1st September. Ludwig comes from Leipzig University in Germany, and he will be working with PhD student Nikolaj Straarup for the next 5 months on his molecular biology project. His project focusses on the plasma membrane Ca2+ ATPase (PMCA) 2z/a, with specific focus on two mutants of the protein that impair the Ca2+ transport, which are connected to autism and schizophrenia. Furthermore, he will establish a negative control by mutating the conserved aspartate and thereby creating an inactive transporter. The activity of all mutants will be determined utilizing a phosphate assay.
