PhD Student at The Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience – DANDRITE
Aarhus University and the Nordic-EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine

Application deadlines 4 times each year (February, May, August/September, and November)

If you want to pursue a PhD degree within the neuroscience research field, DANDRITE offers the eminent opportunity by advertising several PhD student positions each year through open calls. DANDRITE PhD students are under the supervision of at least one of the current 8 Group leaders at DANDRITE; Professor Poul Nissen, Professor Anders Nykjær, Professor Poul Henning Jensen, Associate Professor Anne von Philipsborn, Associate Professor Mark Denham, Associate Professor Keisuke Yonehara, Associate Professor Sadegh Nabavi, and Associate Professor Duda Kvitsiani.

DANDRITE encompasses a thriving, international research community with many PhD students and postdocs and with well-established research infrastructure and support at Aarhus University and within the NeuroCampus Aarhus community shared with the Aarhus University Hospital.

The current 8 research groups at DANDRITE cover a broad range of neurosciences:

  • Structural biology and electrophysiology of membrane transporters and receptors (Nissen group)
  • Molecular cell biology of intracellular signaling networks with focus on Parkinson disease and dementia (Jensen group)
  • Sorting/trafficking, trans-synaptic communication and signaling in nerve cells as mediated by sortilin receptors and studied in transgenic animal models (Nykjær group)
  • Embryonic and reprogrammed stem cells in Parkinson disease (Denham group)
  • Molecular cell biology, brain circuitries and behavior in Drosophila (Philipsborn group)
  • Neuronal circuits and molecular basis of effort based decision-making (Kvitsiani group)
  • Memory formation and consolidation at the synaptic and circuit levels (Nabavi group)
  • Structure, function and development of neural circuits in visual system (Yonehara group)

PhD positions at DANDRITE is currently advertised through general open calls. No specific calls are currently available. Application deadlines appear four times a year (February, May, August, and November).

PhD students at DANDRITE will be enrolled in the PhD degree programme for Molecular Medicine, an interdisciplinary PhD degree programme at Aarhus University that is mutually organized by the Graduate School of Science and Technology and the Graduate School of Health. The courses included in the degree can be put together from a wide variety of subjects in neuroscience, molecular medicine, bioinformatics, biophysics and molecular and structural biology.

Please note that it is important that potential candidates, who would like to apply for a PhD position at DANDRITE, contact the relevant Group Leader to get accepted before applying.
