Visiting PhD student at DANDRITE

Jaroslava Geleticova is visiting Poul Nissen's group for 3 months from 1. Sept.-30. Nov. 2015, funded by her EMBO Shortterm Fellowship. Jaroslava is working on the expression of the sodium-potassium ATPase (NKA) in yeast. Important alpha 3 sodium-potassium ATPase mutations, which are possibly linked to human neurological disorders (Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood, AHC and Rapid-Onset Dystonia Parkinsonism, RDP), are also studied. The project aims to determine structural consequences of the mutations and functional changes of the whole protein. This study can be first step in research with a direct application to treatment of mentioned neurological disorders.
