PhD student Paula Szalai makes a collaborative study between NCMM and DANDRITE

A collaboration between DANDRITE, Aarhus University, and Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM), the Norwegian node of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine, University of Oslo, on “The role of the SERCA Pump in Cell Death and Autophagy” has been funded by The Lundbeck Foundation. The collaboration is based on the PhD project of Paula Szalai, who has been appointed PhD student jointly between Poul Nissen's group at DANDRITE and Nikolai Engedal’s group at NCMM. Paula Szalai’s research focuses on complementing cell biology studies with in vitro binding assays and structural analyses of SERCA:inhibitor complexes in order to uncover novel and exciting relationships between SERCA structure and function that are relevant to cancer and neurobiology.
