New postdoc at DANDRITE

Ingrid Dach started as postdoctoral fellow in Poul Nissen's group in June 2014. Ingrid Dach studies structural and functional details of the transport cycle of the sodium-potassium ATPase. Since the malfunction of this membrane pump is linked to a number of of severe neurological diseases such as familial hemiplegic migraine and rapid-onset Dystonia, it is of large interest to elucidate its exact functional mechanism to gain a better understanding of the malfunction of the protein caused e.g. by various mutations. As the main experimental method, she is going to use X-ray crystallography together with biochemical studies.
