Position Available: Research Technician

The Rompani Group (EMBL) is looking for a Research Technician, who will participate in neuroscience research as part of an interdisciplinary team of young scientists working within  a highly collaborative international enviroment. The Rompani Group uses a combination of in vivo imaging, mouse genetics and virology to study how vision is influenced by other sensory systems and internal states.

Two post-doctoral positions on the role of GABAergic neurons on memory Aarhus University, Denmark (Dr Marco Capogna)

We are seeking to recruit two independent post-doctoral fellows expert in in vitro or in vivo electrophysiology and optogenetics in order to study the behavioral role of “non-classical GABAergic neuron types” in the amygdala and hippocampus of rodents. Electrophysiological or imaging approaches will be combined with behavioral assessment of memory function to understand the role of specific GABAergic neuron types in memory storage, consolidation and retrieval.

Postdoc position available

Human brain-on-a-chip model for in vitro disease modelling

The Developmental and Cellular Biology Group (led by Prof. Jens Schwamborn) at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine utilizes stem cells for modeling and experimental treatment of neurodegenerative disease. Projects in the lab are at the interface of systems biology and bio-medical research. In particular we aim on developing novel, complex in vitro models that are specific for the human brain. Our main disease model is Parkinson’s disease. In this particular project we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in further developing human patient specific brain organoids for in vitro disease modeling. This project is part of an international consortium with the aim to integrate brain organoids in multifunctional microfluidics devices (chips) with the ability to monitor disease processes and with applications in drug development.

DANDRITE is an interdisciplinary neuroscience research center at Aarhus University that combines structural biology, cell

biology and behavioral studies to investigate neuronal circuits and intracellular signaling in health and disease of the

brain. With the Proteins in Memory (PROMEMO) center of excellence, we will focus on how emotional impressions affect

long-term memory, and attempt to uncover precisely which proteins play a role in long-term memory, and how they

Postdoctoral position in synaptic and circuit plasticity in the Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience

The Nabavi lab at the Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience – DANDRITE is seeking highly motivated and ambitious postdoc candidate for a 3 year position. The project investigates the cellular mechanisms of memory consolidation, including the role of neuromodulators, in rodents (WT and transgenics). This follows our recent work where we established the causative role of Long Term Potentiation and Long Term Depression in memory formation (Nabavi et al., 2014, Nature). Postdoctoral position in Drosophila neuroscience for analysis of neuronal circuits and behavioral genetics

The lab of Anne von Philipsborn at DANDRITE, the Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience, Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine at Aarhus University, Denmark (http://dandrite.au.dk/), is looking for a highly motivated and skilled postdoc. We are interested in understanding how the nervous system generates and controls behaviour - at the level of genes and molecules, cells and neuronal circuits. Using Drosophila courtship and acoustic signaling as a model system, we study how small circuits of genetically defined neurons integrate sensory information, select actions and generate motor patterns. Our methodology includes various Drosophila behavioral assays to test the effect of manipulation of neuronal activity with genetic tools, confocal microscopy, 3D image analysis, calcium imaging of neuronal activity and optogenetics.

Postdoctoral position in electron microscopy studies of neuronal membranes and membrane protein complexes

Application deadline 21 October 2016. A 3-year position as a postdoc in EM tomography and single-particle cryoEM studies of neuronal membranes is available from November 2016, or as soon as possible after, in the group of Prof. Poul Nissen located at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University (Campus Aarhus). The project is part of the Danish node for neuroscience of the Nordic-EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine (DANDRITE) and the BRAINSTRUC research program funded by the Lundbeck Foundation.

Aarhus University has established state-of-the-art cryoEM facilities centered on an operational Titan-Krios microscope equipped with a Gatan K2 Quantum detector that will be available to the project.

The project will be focused on studies of large complexes and network structures of neuronal membranes associated with formation and transmission of action potentials and with a particular focus on the coupled function of ion pumps and ion channels. The candidate must present a significant experience in membrane protein structural biology and preferably electron microscopy on biological samples. The position will have a main focus on tomographic studies of large membrane protein complexes in native membranes or native membrane nanodiscs. The position will also involve teamwork with other postdocs and PhD and MSc students on single-particle cryoEM studies of membrane proteins and complexes.

 The position may prepare for a long-term career in both academia and industry.

Assistant Director & Group Leader, combined with adjunct Professor / Associate Professor in Medicine at The Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM)

Technician position in neuroscience lab at DANDRITE

Student assistant position in Drosophila neuroscience lab at DANDRITE

Group Leader Anne von Phiipsborn is looking for a motivated, flexible, efficient and practical student help (10-15hrs per week) in the lab for Circuit Neuroscience and Behavioural Genetics at DANDRITE, Aarhus University.  The duties will be maintenance of Drosophila stocks, preparation of fly food, general maintenance work in the lab (e.g. autoclave duties, cleaning, organizing supplies) and assistance with experiments. We are a small international lab with a friendly atmosphere. The working language is English.

Job opportunity at DANDRITE - Group Leader in Molecular and Translational Neuroscience

Application deadline October 15, 2014. In this call DANDRITE seeks a group leader in neuroscience that complements the expertise and research programs of the current seven groups. Research programs can for example investigate protein-protein interaction networks and cell biology underlying intra- or intercellular interactions and circuits in brain. The group leader is expected to complement on-going research as well as to strengthen synergies of DANDRITE research. To qualify for a group leader position, the candidate should have a PhD degree or equivalent and an appropriate level of postdoctoral training. Applicants should present a strong track record of relevance (but not necessarily limited) to neuroscience, and an independent research proposal that demonstrates the potential to identify compelling new questions and ideas in neuroscience to be pursued at DANDRITE.
