Ground breaking ceremony for the new Biomedicine building

The ground breaking ceremony for the new Biomedicine research building took place 5 Sept. 2014, and the building is planned to be completed in end of 2016, where DANDRITE will then be moving into this new state-of-the-art research facility in the heart of the University Park campus. Comprising two parallel buildings containing new state-of-the-art laboratories, it will be constructed on the corner of Vennelyst Boulevard and Høegh-Guldbergs Gade in Aarhus.

The new Biomedicine building will be named the Skou Building after Jens Christian Skou, who won the Nobel Price in 1997 for his discovery of the sodium-potassium pump.

The ceremony marked not only the beginning of the construction of the new Biomedicine building, but also the coming renovation of the Bartholin and Anatomy complexes.

The ground breaking was further celebrated at the following reception in the Steno Museum.
