The generation, presence and consequences of irregular protein aggregates in normal and abnormal situations has always fascinated Poul Henning Jensen and been the focus of his research career. The aggregation of the presynaptic protein alpha-synuclein is intimately involved in Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, collectively named synucleinopathies.
