Application deadline 21 October 2016. A 3-year position as a postdoc in membrane protein studies is available from November 2016, or as soon as possible after, in the lab of Hanne Poulsen located at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University (Campus Aarhus). The project is part of the Danish node for neuroscience of the Nordic-EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine (DANDRITE). The project will be focused on studies of electrogenic membrane proteins, ion channels and pumps, using molecular biology in general and electrophysiology in particular, including two-electrode voltage clamping and voltage-clamp fluorometry with a cut-open system. The candidate must present a significant experience in membrane protein studies and preferably electrophysiology. The position will also involve teamwork with other postdocs and PhD and MSc students in our studies of structure-function relationships and molecular mechanisms.
Application deadline 21 October 2016. The Nabavi lab at the Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience – DANDRITE is seeking highly motivated and ambitious postdoc candidate for a 3 year position. The position is available with a start date January 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The project investigates the cellular mechanisms of memory consolidation, including the role of neuromodulators, in rodents (WT and transgenics). This follows our recent work where we established the causative role of Long Term Potentiation and Long Term Depression in memory formation (Nabavi et al., 2014, Nature). We use a range of techniques from in vitro and in vivo electrophysiology and imaging to molecular biology, optogenetics and behavioral analysis.
Application deadline 21 October 2016. The lab of Anne von Philipsborn at DANDRITE, the Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience, Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine at Aarhus University, Denmark (http://dandrite.au.dk/), is looking for a highly motivated and skilled postdoc. We are interested in understanding how the nervous system generates and controls behaviour - at the level of genes and molecules, cells and neuronal circuits. Using Drosophila courtship and acoustic signaling as a model system, we study how small circuits of genetically defined neurons integrate sensory information, select actions and generate motor patterns. Our methodology includes various Drosophila behavioral assays to test the effect of manipulation of neuronal activity with genetic tools, confocal microscopy, 3D image analysis, calcium imaging of neuronal activity and optogenetics.
Application deadline 21 October 2016. A 3-year position as a postdoc in EM tomography and single-particle cryoEM studies of neuronal membranes is available from November 2016, or as soon as possible after, in the group of Prof. Poul Nissen located at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University (Campus Aarhus). The project is part of the Danish node for neuroscience of the Nordic-EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine (DANDRITE) and the BRAINSTRUC research program funded by the Lundbeck Foundation.
Aarhus University has established state-of-the-art cryoEM facilities centered on an operational Titan-Krios microscope equipped with a Gatan K2 Quantum detector that will be available to the project.
The project will be focused on studies of large complexes and network structures of neuronal membranes associated with formation and transmission of action potentials and with a particular focus on the coupled function of ion pumps and ion channels. The candidate must present a significant experience in membrane protein structural biology and preferably electron microscopy on biological samples. The position will have a main focus on tomographic studies of large membrane protein complexes in native membranes or native membrane nanodiscs. The position will also involve teamwork with other postdocs and PhD and MSc students on single-particle cryoEM studies of membrane proteins and complexes. The position may prepare for a long-term career in both academia and industry.
Applicants are referred to the full text advert, where applications must also be admitted, via University webpage.
