7th ISN Special Conference - Synaptic function and dysfunction in brain diseases
The International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN) organizes its 7th ISN Special Neurochemistry Conference on Synaptic function and dysfunction in brain diseases. Understanding how synapses are assembled, how their function is regulated and how it is modified by neuronal activity is essential to understand the brain. Dysregulation of synaptic function is thought to underlie schizophrenia, autism, depression and addiction, but also to be an early event in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, and in brain injury and stroke. Recent methodological advances have paved the way to a better understanding of synaptopathies, and of the consequent dysregulation of neural circuitry that contributes to these diseases.
